He is survived by: his children, Rick McElvain (Sarah) of Minneapolis, Cathy Gardner of Fort Dodge, Vaughn McElvain (Rosanne) of Des Moines and Chip McElvain (Danielle) of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Josh Gardner, Chelsey McElvain, Devin McElvain, Catrina, Alex McElvain, Brandon Erickson, Sean McElvain, Collin McElvain, William "Will" McElvain and Calvin McElvain; and his great grandchildren, Evan Gardner and Killian McElvain.
