He is survived by: his children, Kirk Zabel of Fort Dodge and Jody Walsh (Tom) of Barnum; his grandchildren, Kasie Kangas (Jacob Seil), Zachary, Lucas and Alyssa Walsh; his siblings, Michael Zabel (Barb) of Humboldt and Patricia Larson-Norton (Denny) of Des Moines; and his former wife Susie Hoover.
