He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Raymond; his parents, Peter Gerdes and Matilda Gerdes (Holtapp); and his brother Merlyn Gerdes. He is survived by: his children, Diana Gerdes of Fort Dodge, Vickie Summers (Craig) of Fort Dodge, Don Gerdes of Fort Dodge, Gina McConathy (Steve) of Fort Dodge, Steve Gerdes (Tina) of Fort Dodge and Patrick Gerdes (Wendy) of Fort Dodge; and his sisters, Sharon Larson of Renwick and Marsha Niemand of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
