He was predeceased by: his son Barry Grossnickle; his grandchildren, Corey, Ryan and Tony Grossnickle; his great grandchildren, Amie Leigh, Dillon Bradley and Emerson James Ganeff; his siblings, Rosella Evans, Beulah Sturgis, Francis Mundus, Evelyn Grossnickle, William Grossnickle Jr., Lucille Johnson, Lauretta Andrews, Earl Grossnickle, Virgil Grossnickle, Richard Grossnickle, Shirley Andrews and Jerold Grossnickle; and his parents, William Grossnickle and Mary Grossnickle (Williams).
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Blaha Curtis; and his children, Wanda Ganeff (Jim) of Fort Dodge, Darrell Jr. Grossnickle (Kathy) of Lehigh, Deb Miller of Fort Dodge, Dean Curtis of Rockwell City and Christine Larsen (Mark) of Indianola. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
