He was predeceased by: his wife Maxine Nielsen; his parents, Albert Johnson and Frances Johnson (Forbes); his brothers, Delmar, Dean and Dennis; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Johnson and George Swan.
He is survived by: his children, Rick Johnson (Karen) of Rolfe, Rhonda Sroufe (Al) of Rolfe, Russell Johnson of Emmetsburg and Rita Meyer (Tony) of DeSoto; his siblings, Daryle Johnson (Linda) of Winterset, Donna Kral (Leon) of Clive and Diane Himrod (Mike) of Humboldt; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Johnson of LeMars, Joyce Johnson of Rockwell City, Dolores Swan of Sioux Falls and Darlene Donovan (Jerry) of Waukee. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
