He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Nelson and Marguerite Nelson (Foster); his sister-in-law Shari Nelson; and his nephews, Bradley and Scott Nelson.

He is survived by: his siblings, Janis Kivi (Arvi) of Greensboro, NC, Bruce Nelson (Julia) of Basking Ridge, NJ and Jean Pfaff (Tom) of Glen Ellyn, IL.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
