Robert Dickie Obituary
Robert Carl Dickie (aka Jim "Abe" Woods), 85, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Floyd Valley Healthcare Care in Le Mars. A time of visitation and sharing of memories will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends.
Robert Carl Dickie was born on April 24, 1936, in New Hampshire, the son of Elwood and Hazel (Briggs) Dickie. He served in the United States Air Force until earning an honorable discharge. After some time on the east coast, Robert moved to California where he worked with his father who owned convenience stores. He married Hannah Simpson and to this union was born Robert, Carol, Donna and Susie.
In the early 1970's, Robert moved to South Dakota. At this time he assumed the name Jim "Abe" Woods. He first worked for Waste Management in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Robert married Debra Jacobson and they had Melissa and Ashley. He later began working construction building houses. Robert opened a business constructing homes and did this until 2014. He moved to Le Mars three years ago. Robert enjoyed listening to music, taking drives and ate lunch at McDonald's every day. He also liked going on trips to the casinos with his friend, Benny Camacho.
He is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Martin) Rubio of Le Mars, IA and their children, Kyra, Kenzie, Briana, Yesenia and Xzavier, a daughter, Ashley (Justin) Peterson of Arlington, IA and their children, Serenity, Nevaeh, Jaelynn and Sawyer, a step-daughter, Nicole (Emery) Redenius of Las Vegas, NV and their daughter, Alexis; and his children with his first wife Hannah, Robert, Carol, Donna and Susie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ricky and Elwood, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Eliana.
