As we bid Payten McKenzie farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Payten McKenzie is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her stepfather John Wright. She is survived by: her parents, Todd Hughes (Denise) and Stephanie Day Wright (Darrin Gillett); her husband Ryne Smith of Floris, IA; her sons, Emmet and Kade Smith; and her sisters, Maddisen Hughes and Alexa Gassner (Klaus).
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 20493 IA-1, Keosauqua, IA 52565. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
