He was predeceased by: his parents, Kurt Vandersee and Dorothy Vandersee (Hahn); his wives, Beverly Jean Reed and Arleta Ruth Schaller (Jellings); his granddaughter Emily Vandersee; his brother Laverne Vandersee; and his siblings-in-law, Dixie Vandersee, Georgia Nolting, Beulah Odekirk-Falck, Kieron Odekirk, Dewey Kastli, Hal Nolting and John Riley, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Darla RaJean (Steve) of Fayette, Douglas Vandersee (Jo Ellen) of Sterling, Darwin Vandersee (Denice) of Fayette, DeLois Martin (Doug) of Fayette, Dwight Vandersee (Kim Franzen) of Waverly and Dean Vandersee (Cindy); his siblings, Marvin Vandersee of Cedar Rapids, Harold Vandersee (Veniece) of Oelwein, Russell Vandersee (Susan) of Sumner, Dennis Vandersee (Arlene) of Fayette and Shirley West (John) of Dripping Springs, Texas; and his siblings-in-law, Gwennith Vandersee of Oelwein, Betty Riley of Oelwein, Bonnie Kastli of Oelwein, Nancy Maurer (Gary) of Independence, Charles Reed (Sandy) of Sumner, Gary Reed (Penny) of Arlington and Eugene Reed (Evy) of Winterset. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are suggested at the visitation and service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, Grandview Cemetery or Maple Crest Manor.
