She was predeceased by: her parents, Harley F. Shipley and Ila W. Shipley (Brandt); her husband Hugh Findlay; her daughter Nancy Findlay; and her siblings, Harley "Bud" Shipley and Viola Shipley.
She is survived by: her children, Daniel Findlay (Deanna) of Bondurant, IA, Debra Findlay of Fairfield, IA and Barbara Sieren (Tim) of Ottumwa, IA; her grandsons, Daniel Findlay Jr., Brandon Findlay (Tina), Benjamin Harris (Shaena Powell) and Jackson Harris (Rusty Tackenberg); and her great grandchildren, Jacey Harris and Grady Harris.
A memorial has been established in Violet's name.
