She is survived by: her husband John Dahl of Fairfield, IA; and her sister Ruth Riggs. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial contributions in Melva's honor may be directed to the Fairfield First United Methodist Church, Living Hope Bible Church, Hospice Compassus, or to the Fairfield Walton Club.

“Dear John Dahl, Please accept my sincere condolences at the passing of your wonderful and gifted wife, Melva. I am very saddened to hear of her passing. I considered Melva a dear friend and mentor.. She taught me so much about gardening! And much about Iowa and Fairfield. I feel we’ve lost a wonderful, hardworking soul. Im out of town for the summer and am very sorry I will not be in Fairfield to attend her services and mourn with her many friends and family. Sincerely Patricia Boland”
