She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Swartz and Dorothy Laughlin Swartz; her husband Fred Schmitter Jr.; her son Mark Schmitter; and her brothers, Dayle Swartz and Vernon Swartz.
She is survived by: her children, Douglas Schmitter (Madge) of Libertyville, IA, Rebecca Giberson (William) of Packwood, IA, Robert Schmitter (Kelly) of Milton, IA and Kristi Schmitter of Page, AZ. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
