She was predeceased by: her parents, David William and Hattie Frances Gerst (Hardin); and her parents-in-law, Anna and Harold Hartman (Paul). She is survived by: her husband Richard Hartman (Paul) of Mary's Catholic Church; her friend Gay Chapman; her siblings, Judith Ellen, Elizabeth "Betty" Street (late Keith), Janet Shipman (late Wayne), Roger Gerst (late Dorothy) and Raymond Gerst (Mary); her nieces and nephews, Debi Wesely (Cox), Jamie Siegrist (Gerst), Ralph Cook, David Cook, Thomas Gerst and Douglas Gerst; her children, Connie Pool of Ottumwa, Colleen Hamberg of Fairfield, Jim Hartman (Tonya) of Birmingham, Mike Hartman (Rinko) of Zama, Kanagawa and Mark Hartman of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Cody Pool, Jennifer Glick (Matt) of Ottumwa, IA, Jessica Cooper Stockton (Amy) of Leander, TX, Christopher Cooper (Samantha Volner) of Fairfield, IA, Patrick Cooper (Ekaterina Shmakova) of Keosauqua, IA, Hunter Hartman of Des Moines, Michael Anthony Hartman of Zama, Kanagawa and Samantha Barber of Iowa City; her great grandchildren, Adrian Pool, Tytan Glick, Roman Glick, Bellamy Glick, Aiden Cooper, Jace Cooper and Phoenix Cooper; and her siblings, Richard Gerst (Diane), David Gerst (Joyce), James Gerst (Donna), John Gerst (Joann), Don Gerst (Connie), Ruthann Schroeder, Kathy Brown (Dave) and Mary Lynn Gerst. She is also survived by her husband, children, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cranston Family Funeral Home - Fairfield (2805 W Burlington Ave, Fairfield, IA 52556). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, October 3rd 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
