He was predeceased by: his parents, Neva Lucille Adamson (McCarty) and James Franklin Adamson; his sisters, Mary Adamson (Norman) and Jeannie Adamson (Larry); his parents-in-law, Beverly Cathey (Hickenbottom) and Donald Hickenbottom; and his brothers-in-law, Dick, Doug Hickenbottom, Larry Ray and Norman Dieterich.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Hickenbottom; his stepdaughters, Lori Adamson (Dan Wagner) of Dubuque, Kim Adamson (Jon Snyder) of Colfax and Carla Adamson (Clayton Cubbage) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Chris Grimes, Cody Wagner, Danielle Wagner, Matthew Snyder (Alysia Prepelica), Sean Snyder, Chase Cubbage and Reese Cubbage; his great grandchildren, Eli Snyder and Bronn Snyder; and also Larry Adamson (Nancy).
