It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Auterman of Fairfax, Iowa, born in Saint Olaf, Iowa, who passed away on December 25, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his brother Paul; his sister-in-law Janet Auterman; his parents-in-law, Charles, Jane Smith and Ronald Matthiessen; and his parents, George Auterman and Leona McGill Auterman.
He is survived by: his siblings, Philip Auterman (Brenda Meyer) of Iowa City, Mary Auterman of Sioux Falls, SD and Cecelia Marie Auterman of Dubuque; his sister-in-law Cecelia Matthiessen of Omaha, NE; his nieces and nephews, Charlie (Amy Smith), Matt (Annette Smith), Cathy Smith, Brian (Mary Matthiessen), Cindy (Brian Rohnke) and Joe (Ann Auterman); and his wife Joan Smith.
A Vigil Service will be held Monday, 3 p. m. at Teahen Funeral Home where friends may visit with the family Monday from 3 to 6 p. m. All in attendance are required to wear a mask and respect social distancing guidelines.
Instead of flowers memorials may be directed to Discovery Living or St. Jude Church.
