He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Hovey and Ruth Hovey (Beebe); and his sister Shawn "Shelly" Carpenter. He is survived by: his sisters, Vicki Hovey of Waterloo, Susan Shaner (Steve) of Oelwein and Lisa Stoler (Rod) of Jesup. He is also survived by five nieces and three nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence, Iowa.
