He was predeceased by: his parents, William Traxler and Cora Traxler (Richardson); and his wife Eleanor Traxler. He is survived by: his daughter Connie Casteel (Jim) of Exline, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jennifer Hand (Terry), Robert Casteel (April), Michael Casteel (Jocelyn) and Matthew Casteel; and his great grandchildren, Lucas, Connor Hand, Allison, Dylan Casteel, Quinton, Keaton, Kaelyn Casteel, Makaila, Maddison and Maverick Casteel.
He was recognized for his charitable efforts with IHCC when he received the Indian Hills Community College Foundation Outstanding Service Award in 1992.
