He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Hatfield and LaVivian Hatfield (McFarland); his son William Dean Hatfield; his grandson Michael Dean Murray; and his siblings, Kenneth, Lester Hatfield, Vera Regnier, Ethel Henderson and Olive Hatfield.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Hatfield of Newton; his children, Richard Hatfield (JoJo) of Los Gatos, Donald Hatfield (Hannah Zhang) of Fulton and Barbara Chaudhary of Mt Vernon, Washington; and his grandchildren, Shawn, Heather, Ara, Lanna, Dawn, Misty, Shanon, Taylor, Austin, Violet, Sidney, Jana and Lyla. He is also survived by 24 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or in Murl's name to be used for a community project (checks made payable to Marjorie Hatfield).
