He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth McDanel and Esther McDanel (Terry); his son Greg McDanel; his daughter-in-law Laura McDanel; and his brother-in-law Richard Sherwood.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Darlene Gist; his children, Mark McDanel (Shelley), Shannon Starr (Tim) and David McDanel (LaVada); his grandchildren, Kasandra McDanel, Samantha Sager (Thomas), Travis McDanel, Rosemary McDanel, Elizabeth Bullard (Justin), Tyler Starr, Jacob Starr, Kaylin McDanel and Luke McDanel; his great grandchildren, Isabela, Cadence, Blayne, Scarlett, Rowan and Theo; his siblings, Deanna Sherwood and Terry McDanel (Diane); and his daughter-in-law Kathy McDanel.
