We are sad to announce that on October 8, 2020, at the age of 96, Anita Jane Godwin (Exira, Iowa) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Atherton and Iva Atherton (Whitver); her son Douglas Bernard "Bernie"; her husband Thomas J. Godwin; and her brother-in-law Roy Atherton.

She is survived by: her children, Thomas Atherton of Exira and Cynthia Louise (John Ryan) of Darien, Connecticut; her grandchildren, David (Laura Ryan) of Darien, Jack (Molly Ryan) of Darien, Anne (Patrick Nolan) of New York City, Tom Godwin of Kansas City, Kansas, Captain Charles Godwin of Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Margaret Godwin of Kansas City, Missouri; her great grandchildren, Paige Atherton Ryan of Darien and Vivienne Rose Ryan of Darien; and her sister-in-law Jeanne Atherton of Walnut, Illinois. She is also survived by niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
