He was predeceased by: his father Lloyd Nielsen; his grandparents, Hilda, Niels Nielsen, Milford (Red) and Marjorie Backstrom (Vyonne); his nephews, Joshua Burger and Lucas Krieg; and his great-nephew Braden Huberg.
He is survived by: his mother Marilyn Nielsen (Backstrom) of Spencer, IA; his wife Janice Waddel of Everly, IA; his stepsons, Kyle Champine of Everly, IA and Derrick Champine (Josie) of Spirit Lake, IA; his stepgranddaughter Bonnie; his children, Tyler Larson of Spencer, IA, Sydney and Haylee of Spencer, IA; and his siblings, Kim Krause (Torrey) of Everly, IA, Vickie Krieg (Terry) of Spencer, IA and Shane Nielsen (Michelle) of Spencer, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
