He is survived by : his siblings, Patricia DenHartog (Craig) of Sheldon, Susan Behrens (Gary) of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Mary Ruyter of Sheldon, Pat McAlpine of Sheldon, David McAlpine (Jan) of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Mike McAlpine (Jean) of Sioux Center, Iowa, James McAlpine (Lynnete) of Sheldon, Daniel McAlpine (Cheryl) of Waukee and Robert McAlpine (Erica) of Hull, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, June 20th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home - Sheldon (724 6th Ave, Sheldon, IA 51201). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (310 10th St, Sheldon, IA 51201). A graveside service was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery (1988 E 9th St, Sheldon, IA 51201).
