She was predeceased by: her parents, Amil Haugen and Eunice Haugen (Hove); her spouse Melford Hamre; her daughter Judy; her grandson Cole; her siblings, Steve Haugen, Imery Millang (Gene), Jerry Millang, Scott Jagerson, Elaine Schtrop and Gloria Risius; her siblings-in-law, Merle Zierke, Harold Risius and Ruth Haugen; her niece Kristie; and her nephews, Jeff, Wade and Shawn.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Hamre, Suzan Haburn (Greg), Andrew Hamre, Paul Hamre (Tina) and Christopher Hamre; her son-in-law Dave Ross; her grandchildren, David, Craig, Josh, Chase, Lilly, Stephen, Cassy, Dannielle, Katie, Alyssa, Andy, Ryan, Erin and Mike; her siblings, Carole Zierke, Arlowe Haugen, Dawn Hanson (Dick), Gary Haugen, Orvis Millang (Sue), Janet Korogi (Gary), David Millang, Deborah Boley (Kenneth) and Doug Jagerson; and her sister-in-law Marlys Jagerson. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Joan's family requests memorials to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Estherville.
