He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Tate and Shirley Beth Larson (Varley); and his grandparents, Forrest, Sadie Varley, John and Harriet Larson.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Holmes; his daughter Jennifer Shepherd (Bob); his grandchildren, Sydney Shepherd and Nathan Shepherd of Tonganoxie, KS; his son Jonathan Larson of Riverton, IA; his brother Fred Larson (Jackie) of Bedford, IA; his nephew Shannon Larson (Kaycee) of Rock Springs, WY; his niece Marisa Peltier (Brandon) of Bedford, IA; his brother Steve Larson (Valerie) of Rock Springs, WY; and his nieces and nephews, Lori Larson, Heather Larson Carter, Jeremy Larson and Corey Larson. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
