She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl O'Brien and Grace O'Brien (Callahan); her son Phil McDermott; her mother-in-law Katie McDermott; her brothers, Earl, Ralph, George, Pat and Steve O'Brien; and her sisters-in-law, Elaine, Monie O'Brien, Marie and Honora.

She is survived by: her husband Irwin McDermott; her children, Mary Ellen Dietzel (Merlin) of Dubuque, IA, Molly Brehm (Tom) of Epworth, IA, Meg Muir (Mike) of Dubuque, IA, Rev. Tom McDermott of Dubuque, IA, Steve McDermott of Epworth, IA, Karen Koopmann (Doug) of Peosta, IA and Sheila Ward (Frank) of Dubuque, IA; her siblings, Mike O'Brien (Joyce) of Cascade, IA, Joe O'Brien of Cascade, IA, Eugene O'Brien (Delores) of Cascade, IA, Kay Gogerty (Rex) of Hubbard, IA, Lois Schlegel of Fairfield, CT and Deb Green (Bob) of Cascade, IA; and her siblings-in-law, Rita McDermott of Epworth, IA, Mary Ann O'Brien of Waunakee, WI, Maurna O'Brien of Cascade, IA, Nikki Manternach of Cascade, IA., Rich Schlegel, John, Pat, Francis, Thomas, Leo and Rev. Philip. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
