He was predeceased by: his parents, John LeRoy Higley and Anna Eileen Higley (Fitzpatrick). He is survived by: his children, Sherre Johnson, Dr. Troy Higley (Tracy) of Zumbrota, MN and Drs; his grandchildren, Bailey, Chenney, Hattie, Kinzie, Asher, Lincoln Johnson, Sydney, William Higley, Derrick and Dana George; his great grandchild Nadia George; and his friend Sharon Goff of Graettinger, IA.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
