She was predeceased by: her father Andrew Gappa (Joe); her brother Bill Gappa; her grandparents, Bill, Marian Moses, Andrew and Josephine Gappa; and her friend Ruth Clasen.

She is survived by: her mother Mary Gappa (Moses) of Emmetsburg; her former husband Andrew Barnes; her husband Andy of Emmetsburg; her children, Holly Harnden (Matt) of Clive, Tony Barnes (Jake) of Des Moines and Jackie Barnes of Johnston; her grandchildren, Zach of Clive, Macy of Clive, Haley of Clive, Max of Clive and Carly Harnden of Clive; and her siblings, Joe Gappa (Zeline) of Emmetsburg, Mary Kary Orsborn of Emmetsburg, Carolyn Lowman (Terry) of Emmetsburg, Marcia Lapczenski (Bill) of Emmetsburg, Jill Thompson (Joe) of Emmetsburg, Todd Gappa (Lisa) of Emmetsburg and Paul Gappa of Emmetsburg. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
