It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Hopkins of Ely, Iowa, born in Marion, Iowa, who passed away on January 15, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, John Watson and Elsie Watson (Nelson); her husband Richard "Dick" Hopkins; her son Robert "Bob" Ness; her granddaughter Jennifer Ness; and her siblings, Ron Watson and Barbara Ward.

She is survived by : her son John Ness (Debi) of Ely, IA; her grandchildren, Jamie Witham (Shannon) of Grinnell, IA, Todd Ness (Becky) of Marion, IA and Tara Ness (Jay) of Belle Plaine, IA; her sister Joyce "Joy" Kellogg (Richard); and her stepdaughter Jenny Netolicky of Solon, IA. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
