We are sad to announce that on March 2, 2022, at the age of 99, Irene Emily Vavra of Ely, Iowa, born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Rigel and Bess Rigel (Barta); her husband Charles F. Vavra; and her siblings, Marvin Rigel (Hermina) and Irma Modracek (Leo).
She is survived by: her children, Mary Haster (Gary) of Cedar Rapids and Chuck Vavra of Ely; her grandchildren, Mandy Vaughn (Cal) and Nathan Haster (Miranda Harris); her great grandchildren, Audrey and Grant Vaughn; and her sister Norma Rousseau (Eugene) of Bloomington, Indiana. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church near Ely or the Ely Fire Department.
