He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Vavra and Beatrice Vavra (Filipi); his brothers, Frank, Larry, Arnold and Edwin; and his father-in-law Leo.

He is survived by : his children, Mary Rae Haster (Gary) of Cedar Rapids and Chuck Vavra of Ely; his grandchildren, Mandy Vaughn (Cal) and Nathan Haster (Miranda Harris); and his great grandchildren, Audrey and Grant Vaughn. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church near Ely or American Legion St. Quentin Post No 555 in Ely.
