He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald E. Phillis and Eunice Clark Phillis; his wife Betty Ann Muller; his son-in-law Tom Schmitt; and his brothers, Jerry, Frank and Dick Phillis.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Schmitt of Evansdale, Betty Jean Surly (Leonard) of Waterloo, Steven Phillis (Mary) of Evansdale, Clarcie Bovis (Dave) of Waterloo and Kathleen Cornelius (Brent) of Kesley; and his former spouse Dana Tetrick of Wyoming. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
