He was predeceased by: his daughter Pat Hoffmann; and his siblings, Jean Schilling and Allen Hamann. He is survived by: his wife Judi Harling; his children, Susan Hamann of Davenport, Teresa Meumann (Gene) of Eldridge, Marji Szwaya (Mike) of Naperville, Illinois and Lyn Hamann (Diane) of Sanford, Florida; and his grandchildren, Melissa Sullivan (Kevin), Meghan Gianatasio (Mike), Ashley Gill (Shawn), Jordan Cosgrove (Kendal), Mallory Schmitt (Nate), Taylor Herberg and Matthew Szwaya.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or the Long Grove Christian Church.
