He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Abigail Berghuis (Weiberdink); his brother-in-law John; his wife Harriet; his children, Mary Bein (Walter), Kathy Miller (Doug), Bruce Berghuis (Kristi) and Kent Berghuis; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Javier), Amanda (Dan), Justin (Allison), Cody, Jade, Alan, Jani, Abigail and Christine; his great grandchildren, Tawnie, Wren, Cade and Dylan; his brother Wes Berghuis (Bev); and his parents-in-law, Betty Berghuis and John Moes.
