It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Austin Owen Fernow (Eldora, Iowa), born in Marion, Iowa, who passed away on September 22, 2023, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilson Clark Fernow and Marguerite Austin Fernow; his sisters, Louise Morgan (Dale) and Dorothy Rapp (Glenn); his stepfather Harold Henning; and his stepbrother Gene Henning.
He is survived by: his wife Judith; and his children, Jean Garaventa (Don) of Reinbeck, Nathan (Deb) of Birmingham, Alabama and Douglas (Ruth) of Corinth, Texas. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
On September 22, 2023, Austin "Woody" Fernow made his final transfer after battling Parkinson's disease for several months.
