She is survived by: her husband Bill Nelson; her sisters, Laurel Gardner and Sharolyn Gertsen; her children, Bruce (Ellen), Leanne England (Randy) and Lori Steele (Jeff); and her grandchildren, Amy, Wendy, William, Richard, Glen, Margie, Randi Leigh, Haley and Ben. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Daughters of the American Revolution of which Violet was a member.
