He is survived by: his children, Rod Hamer (Diane) of Cedar Falls and Deb Dutler (Don) of Winthrop; his grandchildren, Dee Lange (Todd), Dan Dutler (Stephanie), Kari Read (Jason) and John Hamer (Ashley); his great grandchildren, Brenna, Kelsey Lange, Avery, Saddie Dutler, Zoe, Heidi Read and Edwin Hamer; his sisters, Phyllis Bauman of Eagle Grove and Margaret Murphy of Auburn, AL; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Johnson of New Port Richey, FL and Marilyn Johnson of Eagle Grove. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
