She was predeceased by: her parents, Guy C. Harmon and Minnie Elizabeth Harmon (Swanson); her husband Hugh Matern; her son Peter Matern; her siblings, Mildred McVay, Lucille Bierle, Edward and Richard Harmon; and her son-in-law Dan Ellis.
She is survived by: her children, Christine Ellis of Eyota, MN, Mark Matern (Martha) of Blaine, MN, Elizabeth Jasper (Tom) of Humboldt, Catherine McGuire (Michael) of Davenport, Rosemary Baker of Humboldt, Rebecca Varley (Doug) of Dubuque, Matthew Matern of Eagle Grove and David Matern (Mun) of Bettendorf. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
