She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugo Funke and Regina Funke (Deutmeyer); her husband Arthur Kern; her siblings, Dorothy Mensen (Leo), Verna Lee Digman (Ed), Janice Mensen (Lavern), Rita Lansing (Lawrence), Leon Funke (Karen), Mary Lou Funke and Floyd Funke; and her in-laws, Charlie Schindler, Don Ruppenkamp, Darlene Wedewer (Howard), Robert Kern and Judy Kern.
She is survived by: her children, Jim Kern (Brenda) of Dyersville, June Putz (Dan) of Dyersville and Jill Kelchen (Dave) of Farley; her grandchildren, Jason Kern (Brenda), Kera Renne (Josh), Kayla Demmer (Casey), Briget Featherston (Brett), Brent Putz (Annie), Brock Putz (Stephanie), Regan Hoerner (Bryce) and Grant Kelchen (Selena Fischer); her sisters, Theresa Schindler of Dyersville, Darlene Wegmann (Wayne) of Dyersville and Janet Funke of Dyersville; and her in-laws, Dale Kern (Donna) of Des Moines, Dorothy Ruppenkamp of Iowa City, Leon Kern (Marilyn) of New Vienna, David Kern (Jeanette) of Colorado, Linda Kern-Garbisch of Kailua, HI and Rick Kern (Terry) of Minneapolis, MN.. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Morris Funeral Home (750 12th Ave SW, Dyersville, IA 52040). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Francis Xavier Basilica (104 3rd St SW, Dyersville, IA 52040).
