He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Koch and Julanda Koch (Osterhaus); his son Joseph (Joe); his parents-in-law, Cyril and Alvina Gassmann; his siblings, Bob Koch, Steve Koch and Janet Westhoff; and his parents-in-law, Walter Westhoff, Jim Cole, Joe Taylor, Francis Errthum and Phil Kluesner.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanine Gassmann; his daughters, Jolyn Hannan of Dubuque, Justine "Tina" Gulick (Steve) of Dyersville and Jerilyn Kraft (Bruce) of Chanhassen, MN; his grandchildren, Michelle Ponsor (Adam), Nick Hannan, John Gulick, Annie Gulick, Christa Koch, Dan Koch, Ben Koch, Allison Rigler (Cory), Nathan Kraft (Priya) and Clarissa Kraft; his great grandchildren, Cedric and Theodore Rigler; his siblings, Kenneth Koch (Diane) of Petersburg and Carol Cole of Ryan; and his parents-in-law, Kathy Koch, Loras Gassmann, Marilyn Errthum, Karolyn Taylor, Stan Gassmann (Jane) and Marchelle Kluesner.
Masks and social distancing are required for attendance.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Beckman Catholic High School and Hospice of Dubuque. The family requests no flowers or memorial gifts at this time.
