It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Schemmel of Durant, Iowa, who passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Schemmel and Vera Schemmel (Nagel); and his sister-in-law Julia Schemmel. He is survived by: his wife Deanna Marten; his children, Mary Wemmie (Mark), Kevin Schemmel (Karen), Dean Schemmel (Susan) and Jeff Schemmel (Courtney); his grandchildren, Matthew Wemmie (Hallie), Brian Wemmie (Jenny Benjamin), Alyssa, Nathan Schemmel, Sarah, Andrew Schemmel, EJ, Haley, Meghan and Samuel Schemmel; his great grandchildren, Henry, Lorelei, Harrison and Emerson; and his brother Roger Schemmel.
