It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ronald Alpen of Durant, Iowa, born in Davenport, Iowa, who passed away on October 29, 2020, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold and Arny; his son Stanley Alpen; and his sister Bonnie Alpen. He is survived by: his wife Penny J. Sauls-Piatt of Durant; his children, Steve Alpen of West Liberty, Scott Alpen (Becky) of Davenport, Dan Alpen (Heather) of Durant and Nicole Ward (Brad) of Eldridge; his stepchildren, Shane Conner (Missy) of Grand Mound and Amanda Baker-Ratliff (Dave) of Buffalo, IA; his siblings-in-law, Linda Potter of Granite City, IL, Vickie Cole (Gary) of Blue Grass and Charles Sauls of Davenport; his friends, Russ and Janice Weisrock; and his pet Elly Mae. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Durant Ambulance or the Durant Education Foundation in his memory.
