He was predeceased by : his parents, Nicholas Bissen and Clara Bissen (Book); his daughter Mary; and his siblings, Irene, Leona, Hulda, Leo, Nick Jr., Sylvan, Joseph Bissen, Hilda Katzer, Marie Bruck, Adella Stracke, Cyrilla Pauley and Evelyn Smith.

He is survived by : his wife Catherine Bissen (Brandt) of Dunlap, Iowa; and his children, Eugene Bissen of Defiance, Gary Bissen (Jane) of Earling, Geralyn "Geri" Anderson (Mike) of Dunlap, Myron Bissen (Patti) of Council Bluffs, Twyla Matheny (Delbert) of Council Bluffs, Helen Wolters (Terry) of Council Bluffs, Richard Bissen (Elisa) of Keller, Kevin Bissen of Harlan, Iowa and Karen Bissen of Harlan, Iowa. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; six step grandchildren six great grand-children; 10 step great grand-children and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Earling Baseball Diamond Walter Herman "Pedro" Bissen was born on October 17, 1922 to Nicholas and Clara (Book) Bissen in Earling, Iowa.
