He was predeceased by: his parents, Alva Olmstead and Eleanor Olmstead (Bauer); his son Martin Patrick Olmstead; and his siblings, Earl Olmstead, Richard Olmstead, Larry Olmstead, LaVerne Olmstead, Maxine Olmstead and Esther Anderson.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Pat Olmstead of Dunlap; his son Mike Olmstead (Robin) of Omaha, Nebraska; his granddaughter Lexi Olmstead of Omaha; and his sister Diane Olmstead of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
