He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo "Chief" Peter and Florence Messing Meyer; his son Gary W. Meyer; his grandson Adam Meyer; his siblings, Jim Meyer (Ginny), Leroy Meyer (Rosie) and Pearl Buckley (Howard); and his brother-in-law Frank Schwartz.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Jane Sinhold of Dubuque; his children, Michael Meyer (Tammy) of Madeira Beach, FL and Amy Merry (Todd) of Norcross, GA; and his sisters, Jeanette Schwartz of Dubuque and Betty Callahan (Tony) of Dubuque. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or the American Legion Post #6.
