Virginia E. Jahnke Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virginia E. Jahnke of Dubuque, Iowa, who passed away on March 23, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, L. Gilbert, Sr. Merritt and Florence Merritt (Schlitzer); her husband Walter H. Jahnke; her brother Lawrence G. Merritt, Jr.; and her son Gary.
She is survived by: her children, Allan Jahnke (Kathie) of Englewood, CO, Kevin Jahnke (Linda) of Ramona, CA, Steve Jahnke of Dubuque and Lavonne Cohen (Aaron) of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Jason Jahnke (Jane), Jill Jahnke (Lance Smothers), Jordan Jahnke, Adam Jahnke (Kai), Andrew Jahnke (Hannah), Aaron Jahnke, Grace Jahnke, Eric Jahnke (Kalli) and Sarah Jahnke; her great grandchildren, Josh Jahnke, Gio Martinez, Jace Martinez, River Jahnke, Powell Jahnke, Hank Jahnke and Hudson Jahnke; and her caregiver Jenny. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory (3860 Asbury Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be given in Virginia's name to the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
