Steve Bemis Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Steve Bemis of Dubuque, Iowa, who passed away on December 4, 2024 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Bemis and Rita Bemis (Wagner); his parents-in-law, Lester and Helen Backes; and his siblings-in-law, Bob Eigenberger and Marian Backes.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Bemis of Dubuque; his children, Erin Plencner (Bill) of Woodridge, IL, Carrie Heinen (Andy) of Plainfield, IL, Seth Bemis (Whitney DeVilbiss) of Cedar Falls, IA and Lauren Klein (Adam) of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Harrison, Ella, Carter, Quinn, Nora, Hal, Jace, Leo and Lucy; his siblings, Mary Eigenberger of Dubuque, Pam Baal of Dubuque, Terry Bemis (Justine) of Dubuque, Christine Rogers (Tom) of Dubuque, Tim Bemis (Amy) of Des Moines, IA, Theresa Erschen of Apache Junction, AZ, Linda Dugan (Tyler) of Madison, WI, Harry Bemis, III (Jenny) of Davenport, IA and Dan Bemis of Davenport, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Pierson of Dubuque, Joanie Backes of Dubuque, Ron Backes of Guttenberg, IA, Carol Brylski of Dubuque, Gary Backes of Dubuque and Laura Backes of Dubuque. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home & Crematory (3860 Asbury Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the St. Columbkille Catholic Church (1240 Rush St, Dubuque, IA 52003).
