He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Soens and Mary Soens (Organ); his daughter-in-law Sandra Bisenius; his stepson Brian Bisenius; his grandson Jonathan Bisenius; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Joan Ernst (Jim), Helen Ann Kraemer (Don), Fran Raab (David), Jerome McDermott, Mike McDermott (Lois), Tom McDermott (Erica), Anthony McDermott, Linus McDermott and Chuck McDermott.
He is survived by: his wife Bea (McDermott) of Patrick's Church; his children, Mike Soens, Jayne DeBrular (Chuck) of Phoenix, AZ and Tom Soens of Delhi, Iowa; his stepchildren, Fran DeJong (Steve), David Bisenius Jr. and Joe Bisenius; his grandchildren, Tyler Soens (Emily), Cody Mueller (Kimber), Kara Maxwell (Austin), Jason Mueller, Jacob, Matthew DeJong, Brady, Cody DeBrular, Garrett Bisenius (Katie), Zachary Bisenius (Callyn) and Gabrielle Bisenius; his great grandchildren, Liam, Brian Mueller, Marshall, Kamdyn Soens and Thalia Bisenius; and his siblings-in-law, Rev. Joseph E, Patrick McDermott (Patricia), Madeline McDermott, Shirley McDermott and Maureen McDermott.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 9:15 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1425 Iowa St, Dubuque, IA 52002). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans Freedom Center or the American Legion Dubuque Post 6.
