He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Devaney and Kathryn Martensen Devaney; his wife Pat; his son Tom Devaney; his grandson Jeff McLaughlin; his sister Kathleen Schmidt; and his half-brother Frank Devaney.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon McLaughlin (Dave) of Dubuque, Rick Devaney of Temple, TX, Connie Seiler of Fort Collins, CO, Julie Neyens (Mike) of Dubuque and Terry Devaney (Marla) of Davenport, IA; his half-sister Mary Lou Bierman; and his grandchildren, Kelly Edwards (Tim), Tracy Schaul (Mike), Shannon Perlin, Richard Devaney III (Julie), Scott Devaney (Aubrey), Jody Harris (Scott), Jeff Schneider (Payton), Lisa Edward (Keith), Lora Carter (Jerry), Tara Mau (Ryan), Jacob Devaney, Holly Capuano, Justin Devaney, Katie Larson (John) and Mark Neyens (Nicole Langmaid). He is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
