He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles A. Rutan and Violet Rutan (Moore); his siblings, Cecil Rutan, Florine V. Holm and Violet Davis Whitney; and his granddaughter Vanessa E. Sauser.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sharon Kopec of Blackwood, NJ and Rachel Cunningham of East Dubuque, IL; and his siblings, Frances Costas of Wilton, IA, Charlotte Hillary of Hazel Green, WI, Louise Maus of Dubuque, IA, Juanita Faulkner of Piedmont, MO and Norman Rutan of Anamosa, IA. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
