She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonald McElmeel and Leona McElmeel (Jasper); her siblings, Lynell McElmeel of Waukesha, Donna Shaffer (James Shaffer) of Dubuque and Kathleen Luensmann (David Luensmann) of Denver; and her brother-in-law Gene Thielen of Dyersville, Iowa..

She is survived by: her husband William Dougherty of Dubuque; her granddaughters, Ella and Maddy Fortmann; her son-in-law Tony Fortmann; her sister Bernadine Thielen of Dyersville; and her siblings-in-law, Patrick Dougherty, Carol and Joe Stecher. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
